Jomar Hilario's Apprentice

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

I mentioned in my first blog post that I am a new virtual assistant and currently still on training under Jomar Hilario, a highly-respected Pinoy Internet Marketing expert. He is reputed as the Tim Ferris and Tony Robbins of the Philippines. You may check this out for more information about Jomar Hilario and his many training programs.

My journey into the virtual assistance world or work at home started last January 2011. At that time, I was looking for money-making opportunities, something productive I can do on my spare time to supplement my income from my full-time job. Sometime in 2010 I heard of the internet/e-commerce marketing, but I wasn't sure if it was legitimate, how does it work, and how to start. Just unexpectedly at the right time, I came across of this advertisment in the internet about work at home/virtual assistant seminar by Jomar Hilario to take place in Cebu City.

It caught my attention right away and excitement really gripped me. Without further investigation or background checking, I signed up right away. Honestly, I never heard of Jomar Hilario before, and I was not sure if it was another online scam or not. I just thought then that if it's legitimate, well and good, but  if it turned out to be a another scam then charge to experience. I knew I just had to take an action. Nothing to lose.

I took the early bird rate. The next day I went to the bank to deposit my registration fee for my seminar. While there was an option to pay online via credit card or Paypal, I opted to pay through the bank. After depositing the money in Jomar's account, I scanned the deposit slip and attached it to my email to Jomar. In that e-mail, I requested an acknowlegement from Jomar. Days passed and no e-mail came in. I called the hotel venue indicated in the advert, unfortunately, the staff I talked to never know of such an event. Oopps. I began to wonder, but never did I lose hope.

Finally, after over a week (if I remember it right), a confirmation e-mail and instruction from Jomar's virtual assistant came in.  Oh well, it was not a scam after all. I was even advised to bring one (1) extra person to the seminar for free. I learned from Jomar during the seminar that I was the first person to sign up.

The seminar took place last January 31, 2011 in Maxwell Hotel, Cebu City. The seminar was an eye-opener for me.  The presentation was very simple and practical. I enjoyed it very much. Currently, I'm still working on the ten (10) assignments Jomar gave, conditions he set for us to "graduate" and be certified. The assignments must be completed within two (2) months. I think these are too much, but is also a good way to learn new skills. I can't wait to start, find a "gig" and work as a virtual assistant from the comforts of my home!
